FAQ

What is person-centred counselling?
Person-centred counselling is a supportive, non-judgemental approach that focuses on you as the expert in your own life. I provide a safe and understanding space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
What can I talk about in counselling?
You can talk about anything that feels important to you. This might include anxiety, low mood, relationships, stress, loss, or simply feeling overwhelmed. There is no right or wrong reason to come to counselling.
What happens in a session?
Sessions are led by you. I will listen with empathy and without judgement, supporting you to explore whatever you choose to bring. There is no pressure, and you can go at your own pace.
How long is each session?
Sessions last up to 60 minutes. Appointments are available during the week.
Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes, I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation. This is an opportunity for us to talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and see if you feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation to continue.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions are held at Birkenhead Park Counselling Centre within Laird Street Health and Business Centre. When you arrive just ask for Leah.
I also offer online and telephone sessions for your convenience.
Please note Birkenhead Park Counselling Centre is located on the 1st floor and there is no lift available, so it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.
How much does a session cost?
The initial 30 minute consultation is free. Ongoing sessions are £50, with a reduced rate of £40 for students. A £10 cancellation fee applies to cover room hire.
How do I pay for sessions?
Face-to-face sessions can be paid by cash or card (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, and Discover). I also accept Apple Pay.
Online and telephone sessions are payable by bank transfer in advance.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, everything you share is kept confidential. This will be explained clearly in our initial session, including the rare circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken for safety reasons.
Are you qualified and registered?
Yes, I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the NCPS and work in line with their ethical framework to ensure professional and responsible practice.
